There have been many new ships to have been commissioned by the cruise industry in the past few years and many of the ships have been built in just the past few years, but in 2012 that has changed some one as fewer companies have planned debut New York cruises and other popular destinations for the year. Interestingly, a lot of the new ships that are launching in 2012 are actually just copies of ships that are already in service and so while there are some brand new options, not all of those ships are actually anything new that’s never been seen on the ocean before.
But 2013 looks to be a better year for absolutely brand new ships as most people expect that the major cruise companies will be debuting some rather amazing new designs for absolutely modern ships. And one of the beneficial side effects of so many ships is likely to be the fact that more ships on the ocean means that there will be more staterooms to sell and this likely means that it might be less expensive to travel on luxurious ships in the next few years.
One interesting trend that is starting to catch the eye of people looking for a new cruising experience is that of the river cruise and it’s actually been more than a generation since river cruising has actually been that popular. But a number of cruise companies are starting to look into providing more river cruises for their passengers who have indicated some interest.
